Comedy Drama
The exploits of Vinnie, a British lad from Lancashire with bipolar disorder, and Dylan, his razor-smart best mate.

Brassic – a wild mix of hilarious, touching, and occasionally dark moments, but above all, it’s the funniest—and oddly sweetest—thing I’ve seen in a long time. Packed with outrageous heist shenanigans, sharp writing, hilarious dialogue, and the brilliantly layered relationships that truly steal the show.

*Brassic* is heartwarming and hilarious and you must give it a go!
Set in the slightly run-down, rural corners of Lancashire, it features a gang of friends—Vinnie, Erin, Dylan, Ash, Tommo and JJ — They’re (quite shit) petty criminals, but despite that, they’re a group you can’t help but want to be part of. Seriously, I’d love to hang out with these lot — even if they’re constantly on the rob and get themselves into some *very* dodgy situations. There’s just something about them that makes their chaos oddly endearing.

At the heart of this dysfunctional gang is Vinnie, played by the brilliant Joe Gilgun. This guy has *heart*—and I’m talking about the sort of heart that’s as big as the trouble he somehow keeps landing in. Vinnie is the lovable rogue you can’t help but root for, even when his plans go south (which, let’s face it, is nearly always). He steals the show, without a doubt, but here’s the thing—every single character in this group gets their moment to shine. It’s like *Brassic* is a well-oiled machine of comedy and chaos, with each member of the gang playing a crucial role in keeping the madness going.

Take Erin, for example — she’s tough, sarcastic, and has a certain no-nonsense charm about her. Dylan is the kind of mate you’d want to have on a night out, unless there’s cocaine on offer —completely unpredictable but with a kind of weird wisdom in the mix. Ash grew up on a traveller site in a proud, fighting family. He’s the ‘handy’ one in the group with his ability to switch to extreme violence at the blink of an eye. Then there’s Tommo—perhaps the most off-the-wall of them all, at his happiest when he’s wanking or shagging. Cardi is an absolute sweetheart with a stutter. His nickname is short for cardiac arrest because he eats constantly. He loves kebabs and his pigeon named Nigel — and JJ, the mechanic and fixer of the group. Foul mouthed Farmer Jim, the local oddball who let’s Vinnie grow weed in an underground bunker on is farm. Dr Chris is the hilariously bad doctor. And let’s not forget Tyler, Erins son, what a little super star! I could keep going listing more amazing performances because each character is so perfectly cast.

The brilliance of *Brassic* isn’t just in its characters, though; it’s in the *dynamic* between them. The show is all about friendship, loyalty, and that unspoken bond that holds them all together despite everything life throws their way. The group’s deep sense of tolerance, support, and genuine care for each other makes you root for them. There’s a kind of pure mischief running through the show, but it’s *never* without a heart. It’s all about the ups and downs of these characters’ lives, the loyalty they have for each other, and the way they stick together no matter how grim things get.
“What’s with the fucking hi vis and camouflage mate, you wanna be seen or not?”

“There’s a big fox out there In the garden if you lot want to go out and beat it to death”.
And while the setting is definitely gritty, *Brassic* never feels too grim or hopeless. It could easily veer into bleak territory, but it’s the *humour* that keeps it fresh and fun. Every episode is packed with laugh-out-loud moments, whether it’s a ludicrous scheme gone wrong or a perfectly timed one-liner. The balance of comedy with the more touching, vulnerable moments is what makes this show work so well. You’re constantly laughing, but there’s always something underneath that makes you care about these people and their messy lives.

“No, I don’t like cats. Why? Because I’m not a Egyptian, a witch or a fucking spinster”
In short, *Brassic* is a show that manages to be both hilarious and heartwarming in equal measure. It’s a crazy, chaotic ride with a gang of lovable misfits who somehow make their upside-down world feel like a place you’d want to be. I don’t know how they do it, but by the end of it, you’re emotionally invested in each of them, flaws and all. If you haven’t watched it yet, do yourself a favour—this Sky show is an absolute must-see. Trust me, you’ll fall for these characters just like I did, and once you’re in, there’s no getting out.
